In this video we explore what Objectivists mean by “similarity,” an idea that is important within their theory of concepts.
Differences in our understanding of “similarity” lead to differences in our understanding of metaphysical theories such as Nominalism and Realism.
Is Ayn Rand’s Objectivism distinct from Aristotle’s version of Metaphysical Realism? Does Rand depart from Metaphysical Realism altogether?
And, if so, does Rand’s theory also differentiate itself from Metaphysical Nominalism?
The issue revolves around the question: “What does it mean when we say similarities are real?”
